Any Complaints?

Seat depth was mentioned as a complaint, predominantly in cold-weather areas where your child will be bulked up with a winter jacket.  They felt that their child just wasn’t sitting comfortably due to these spacing issues.  This was a complaint of the 2010 model.  Thankfully for the 2011/2012 models the seat depth has increased by 1”.  Another con mentioned was the lack of support for smaller babies, as tiny babies seem to swim in the stroller, without support.  This is another concern that was addressed in the newest model, by introducing a supportive hammock style seat for the smallest of baby’s.  No more borrowing your car seat’s head support or other contraptions to hold your baby in place.  Baby Jogger is a company who has taken the constructive criticism of their products and redesigned them accordingly.

What Accessories are Available?

There is always something to make it a little better, right?  There are some cool add-ons. Does the Handle Adjust?

Yes, tall parents and short parents alike will be happy with this feature.  There is just nothing worse than an aching back from slouching over a short stroller or aching arms and wrists.  You would really think this would be a standard feature by now, but sadly it’s not.  With the Baby Jogger City Select days are more comfortable while maneuvering through town.

Does the Canopy Adjust?

Yes, the canopy is adjustable to two positions to grow along with your child. How to Clean?

Messes are bound to happen and you’ll want to keep this stroller looking exceptional.  Thankfully it’s easy.  Because really, who has time to spend hours scrubbing a stroller?  Majority of the fabric pieces can be removed and machine washed on gentle.  The remainder of the stroller can be wiped down with mild soap and water.  Spills or dirt will quickly disappear with little effort and the City Select will be gleaming again in no time.

Baby Jogger City Elite 2012 Stroller Review

The City Elite 2012 stroller is one of  Baby Jogger’s most extravagant and expensive strollers. There are similarities between the City Elite, City Mini and City Mini GT; however, there are noticeable differences that distinguish it from the other two. The review of the City Elite will be an analysis of the features and specifications not available on the City Mini and GT models. The City Mini, GT and Elite have many of the same features and specifications so I would recommend reading the full version review of the City Mini 2012 to get detailed information about the City line of strollers. They all have the same basic functionality, but all have different features to meet the needs of different customers. What are the seat dimensions?

1. Seatback is 20 inches 2. Head Height is 26 inches 3. Shoulder Width is 13 inches 4. Seat to Knee is 9.5 inches 5. Knee to footrest is 9.5 inches 6. Width at Knee is 13.75 inches The weight capacity is 75lbs for the Elite. It is the highest of any of the City strollers. The Seat on the Elite is extra padded and comes with an upgraded fabric not found on the City Mini or GT models. It has an adjustable footrest for your child. It can be propped up to accommodate smaller babies too. When not using the footrest it is held in place by magnetic closures.

Canopy

The canopy is a full range just like the City Mini and GT, but there are 2 ventilation windows positioned on each side of the canopy for extra air flow. Also, there is a change to the peek-a-boo windows. There are still 2 of them, however, they are held down with magnets instead of Velcro. You no longer have to worry about waking your sleeping baby with the sound of Velcro.

Is the Handle Different?

The City Elite 2012′s handle adjusts to accommodate short and tall parents. The handle maxes out at 42 inches from the ground to where your hands rest. The lowest it adjusts to is 33 inches, which is great for older siblings who want to help push the stroller. The handle can also be positioned between 42 and 33 inches. The City Elite comes with a built in 3 section parent organizer. There is now a place for your cell phone, keys, and wallet. No more putting it in the underneath basket with the diaper bag.

The Tires look the same

They are completely different than the City Mini, but just slightly different than the GT tires. The Elite has forever air tires. Not only will you not have to worry about a flat tire, you will never have to fill them with air either. There are (3) 12 inch tires, ideal for all-terrain strolling. Unlike the City Mini and the GT, the Elite is classified as an all-terrain stroller. Gravel, mulch, grass, and even trails cannot hold this stroller back. Similar to the other City models the front swivel wheel locks in the straight position by simply pressing the switch on the front of the stroller. If you decide to take a jog with your baby this is the perfect stroller in regards to craftsmanship and style. The maneuverability is the same as the other City models. It can be pushed with one hand. However, keep in mind the heavier the child the more likely you will have to use two hands. The City Elite weighs 26lbs, which is about standard for an all-terrain stroller.

What kind of Braking System does the Elite have? It is foot activated?

No, it has the same braking systems as the City Mini GT. All you have to do is pull the hand brake up to lock the wheels and push it down to disengage the brakes. No more jamming your toes trying to engage the brakes. Included with the Elite is a runaway strap. It is for those parents who are jogging or running. If you happen to fall while jogging, the strap (which is attached to the stroller frame and would be attached to your wrist too) will prevent the stroller from getting away from you and also prevent it from flipping over.

What are the color options?

The City Elite comes in 3 color options.

Baby Jogger City Mini GT 2012 Stroller Review

The Baby Jogger City Mini GT 2012 stroller is a more “upscale” version of the City Mini 2012. There are some minor differences between the two strollers and they will be highlighted during this review.

Let’s Start with the Seat

How are the Handles Different?

The City Mini GT handle adjusts to accommodate the operator. The handle is 42 inches from the ground to where your hands are placed. It adjusts all the way down to 32 inches, which is great for the shorter parents or caregivers.

The Tires look Different

They are indeed! The GT is equipped with forever air tires. You will never have to worry about a flat tire. The tires are 8.5 inches and are great for different types of terrain like gravel and mulch. The front swivel wheel locks the same as the City Mini by pushing up the button on the front wheel.

The maneuverability of the GT is great because of the front wheel suspension and the forever air tires. It can be pushed with one hand

Safety First! Is the Braking System the same?

No, the GT has a hand braking system. Simply press the hand brake up to lock the wheels and push it down to disengage the brakes.

Does it come in the same colors as the City Mini?

It comes in 4 color options.

The frame of the GT is all black as opposed to the City Mini which is silver. It is a minor detail, but I wanted to point it out.

Do the Accessories fit both the City Mini and the GT?

Yes, all the accessories that fit the City Mini are compatible with the City Mini GT model as well.

Is there a Double Version Available?

Yes there is. However, there is a 100 lbs. weight limit for the stroller and it is only available in 2 color options.

Any Complaints?

There were two minor complaints, but overall moms and dads who purchase the City Mini are satisfied. One of the common complaints found was the size of the underneath storage basket. Many parents could not fit their diaper bags. Baby Jogger did make an adjustment in 2012 with the basket. It is now more accessible. Folding the City Mini

Folding the City Mini could not be any easier. It comes with a patented Quick Fold Technology. If you are the local shopping mall and have to hurry because another person is waiting for your parking spot, then this is going to excite you. Simply pull the handle located at the center of the seat. It is so simple and quick. Worried it will not stay folded? The stroller has a removable automatic lock to ensure the stroller remains closed until you unfold it.

Is the Seat Adjustable?

Yes it is. Before we get into the adjustable aspect let’s discuss the seat dimensions and features. It has a PE board where your child’s back goes to supply extra support and allows them to sit in a more upright position. The stroller can accommodate a child up to 50 lbs. (1)  Seatback is 19.5 inches (2)  Head Height is 23 inches (3)  Shoulder Width is 12.5 inches (4)  Seat to Knee is 10 inches (5)  Knee to footrest is 9 inches (6)  Width at Knee is 14 inches The seat has the ability to become more upright. There are two straps that wrap around the frame of the stroller and that will make the seat more upright. There is a strap located on the back of the seat has gives you the ability to adjust the seat. The seat fully reclines at 150°. The City Mini has a vented window attached to the seat to allow fresh air to push through. It also has a cover that goes over the mesh vent in case of bad weather so your child will not be exposed. The reclined seat is perfect for when your baby is sleeping and you still have one more store to run into. The baby can relax and not be bothered and you on the other hand can focus on your next bag or necklace purchase.

Does the Handle Adjust?

No. The handle is not adjustable. The handle is 41.5 inches high making it waist high for a person of average height. The handle is also round for extra comfort. Being comfortable is key when out shopping. The handle is at an ideal height and will prevent you from slouching and having back pain later in the day.

Does the Canopy Adjust?

It sure does. It has a full range canopy to protect your precious cargo from any of the elements Mother Nature throws your way. If it is bright and sunny or even a rainy day and you parked a mile away from the mall entrance no need to worry. Your baby will be just fine; it is you I am worried about. The City Mini canopy also comes with (2) Velcro Peek-a-boo windows to check on your child whenever you desire.

Safety Every Parent Would Expect

When purchasing a stroller, colors, patterns, and features should all take a backseat to safety. Would you allow your child to be in anything that was deemed unsafe? Absolutely not! The City Mini has all the standard safety features sought after by parents. It has swivel wheels in the front, an adjustable 5-point harness, and an easy to engage interlocking braking system. It is very uncommon to find strollers that do not have a 5-point harness. The Baby Jogger City Mini has an adjustable 5-point harness, which includes shoulder pads and a buckle cover. To adjust the harness, simply clip the strap to the loop on the seat back that best fits your child. There are 3 loops, thus making the stroller ideal for a growing child. Shopping at the local mall can be stressful. Long lines, crowded stores, inconsiderate people, but one thing you do not have to stress out over is the braking system on your Citi Mini. If you are at the Coach store looking at their newest purses you want to make sure your child will be safe while the stroller is not moving. All you have to do is press down the red lever with your foot and both rear wheels lock and secure the stroller. Now your full attention can be on what purse you are leaving with next. The City Mini comes with an 8 inch foam double swivel wheel in the front and 2-8 inch wheels in the rear. The front swivel wheel can be locked straight if riding on an uneven surface like gravel or mulch. All you have to do is press the gray button down and the wheel will be locked in the straight position, and to make the wheel swivel press the gray button up. The stroller can be maneuvered with one hand and it tackles the tightest corners with ease. Walking through the food court at the mall will be no problem, but deciding where to eat maybe.

How to Clean your City Mini

Long days at the mall usually end up with a spill or two. Could be a sippy cup or a drink from lunch, but the stroller will take the majority of the abuse. The City Mini has real simple instructions for cleaning. The seat is machine washable on the cold cycle with mild detergent. It is recommended to place the seat back on the stroller to dry so it minimizes shrinkage. Do not let a little stain worry you; it can be resolved without replacing any parts.

How Much Storage Does the Baby Jogger City Mini Have?

Storage space is a big deal, because the amount of stuff you leave the house with is incredible. You also need a spot for your recent purchases and the new toys you bought for the baby. There is a large seatback pocket. It is good for car keys, wallet, shopping list, etc. The Baby Jogger City Mini has a basket underneath for storage as well. It has elastic sides to allow for easier access. It can fit a purse and most of your recent purchases, but a bigger diaper bag may have a problem fitting. There are no cup holders on the stroller. There is a cup holder available for purchase separately.

Can it be used as a Travel System?

Yes. Your child may be too small to fit comfortably in the seat, thus requiring their car seat. The City Mini has available car seat adapters to turn your stroller into a travel system in seconds. There is a multi-brand adapter that fits the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, Maxi Cosi, Evenflo, and Graco car seats. Also available is an adapter made specifically for Chicco car seats. Both adapters are sold separately. Taking those afternoon trips to mall will be more enjoyable for all knowing that the stroller can accommodate multiple car seat brands and ensure your baby is as comfortable as possible.
